Vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has spoken about his relationship with former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, saying they have known one each other since the aborted Third Republic.
Kwankwaso made the remarks while responding to comments by Sheriff that the North would not support the NDC presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, despite having him as running mate.
Speaking during Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Kwankwaso suggested that Sheriff was not serious about his remarks and merely wanted to impress people in the Presidential Villa.
“You see, my humble self, Alimodu Sherif, and His Excellency Bola Tinubu were all in the aborted third republic. We know ourselves very well.
“And up to now I communicate with them, especially Senator Sherif himself. I know what he tells me, and I have heard him when he was here, but I can tell you he was not serious about it. He just wanted to impress our brother in the Villa,” he said.
Kwankwaso, however, did not elaborate on the nature of his recent conversations with either Tinubu or Sheriff.
