Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be preparing to establish a new home in the UK as they search for a suitable property for their family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have turned their attention to the Cotswolds, an area Harry knows well.
However, establishing another home will not come cheaply, with properties matching Prince Harry and Meghan’s needs potentially costing around $16 million.

According to OK! Magazine, Royal reporter Tom Sykes said talk of their house hunt has been circulating among people familiar with the area.
He explained that Stow-on-the-Wold has become a key location in the search, saying, “That is the gossip going through all the WhatsApp groups, all the people, all the professionals in the Cotswolds.”
Among the properties linked to the Sussexes is a luxury mansion said to be priced at £12 million (roughly $16 million), suggesting that the couple could be preparing to make a substantial investment in their new UK base.
The Sussexes’ Preferred Cotswolds Location Does Not Come Cheap
5The Sussexes’ preferred part of the Cotswolds is known for large country homes, but securing one comes at a steep price. Sykes noted that the Oxfordshire side of the area offers more opportunities to find expansive properties, although affordability is still far from the equation.
He described the market as “still incredibly expensive,” adding that visitors to Stow-on-the-Wold can easily spend heavily even on everyday luxury purchases.
“You can still quite happily wander down Stow-on-the-Wold High Street and, you know, drop $500 on a beautiful sweater,” he said.
For Harry and Meghan, that means their search for privacy and space in the countryside could involve another multimillion-dollar commitment, especially if they settle on one of the larger estates currently being considered.

A source said the Duke “never really stopped missing home,” explaining, “He’s missed that sense of connection and belonging. Britain is still home in many ways.”
Their children also appear to be central to the decision. Harry previously showed enthusiasm about British schools while discussing family life with Joss Stone, who recalled, “He was saying how wonderful the schools are here and how important community is for children.”
While the Sussexes intend to maintain their Montecito residence, their extended stay could give Archie and Lilibet a greater opportunity to experience life and education in their father’s home country.
The Sussexes Arrived In A Luxury Private Jet
5Harry and Meghan’s return to Britain began in a luxurious jet, with the family spending an estimated six-figure sum on a private flight from Los Angeles to Birmingham.
According to Page Six, the Sussexes chartered a plane through private aviation company Planet 9, which charges around $12,000 per hour. With the journey lasting approximately 10 hours, aviation estimates placed the cost at more than $120,000.
The family traveled aboard a refurbished Bombardier Global Express XRS featuring two bathrooms, five beds capable of sleeping six people and seating for as many as 13 passengers.
Their decision to fly privately also served a practical purpose. A source said the couple chose the aircraft so they could bring their dogs, Pula and Mia, with them to Britain.

5Although Harry and Meghan are beginning a new life in Britain, they reportedly plan to retain their Montecito mansion, a decision that could cost them as much as $600,000 annually.
The estimate includes mortgage repayments, property taxes, insurance and staff, even before some of the costs of maintaining the mansion are considered.
According to The Times, the Sussexes purchased the 7.38-acre estate for $14.65 million in 2020, taking out a $9.52 million loan with an adjustable mortgage rate initially set at 2.49 percent.
Based on that original rate over 30 years, repayments would amount to roughly $37,566 monthly or $450,792 a year, although their current payments could be different.
The financial commitment extends beyond the mortgage. In 2025, the couple reportedly paid $149,668 in property taxes, with that bill said to have risen since they bought the estate.
Maintaining the nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom mansion and its extensive amenities while spending significant time in Britain could therefore leave the Sussexes with a huge annual expense.
