“Chicago Fire” has added American actor Matthew Daddario to the cast of its upcoming season.
The addition comes after another newbie, Da’Vinchi, teased Daddario in a photo shared on Instagram earlier in the week.
The extent of his involvement in the upcoming season remains unknown, but it appears that the “Shadowhunters” star will play a firefighter candidate, as suggested by the image shared by Da’Vinchi.
“Chicago Fire” has thrilled fans for years and is heading into its 15th season, set to premiere in October.
For the latest installment, Matthew Daddario will join the cast, as seen in a teaser image shared by “All American” alum Da’Vinchi, whose addition to the series was announced months ago.
Taking to Instagram, Da’Vinchi shared a photo of himself, Daddario, and another actor sitting in front of a fire truck, accompanied by three fire emojis.
He did not share any details about Daddario’s role, but the actor appears set to play one of the firefighter candidates, given the outfit he wore in the photo.
‘Chicago Fire’ Fans Welcome Matthew Daddario With Open Arms
Fans warmly welcomed the image featuring Daddario, with many taking to the comments to express their excitement about his addition to the show.
“Omg Mathew Daddario as a fireman, my new obsession,” one wrote, while another commented, “When does the season start so I know when to clock in?”
“I’ve never taken a peek at this show, but I guarantee you I will now… cause whew,” another user gushed.
One more individual remarked, “Can’t wait for this,” while another added jokingly, “Come rescue me.”
“Patiently waiting [for] what you have been cooking up,” someone else said, referencing the upcoming season.
Dermot Mulroney Exits ‘Chicago Fire’ After Three Seasons
Making his exit from the franchise is Dermot Mulroney, whose character will wrap up his storyline in the upcoming season.
Unlike other series regulars, Mulroney joined the show in Season 13, meaning his character lasted for only three seasons.
Despite the relatively short stint, the actor is satisfied with his time on the Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television show.
“Loved every minute of it. Became friends with this incredible crew of people,” Mulroney said during an appearance at Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror Convention earlier this month.
“They wrote an incredible storyline that put me as an actor on a high challenge,” he added. “I loved every minute of it. Sad to see it go.”
Andrea Newman Exits ‘Chicago Fire’ After 14 Years
Meanwhile, Season 15 will not include Andrea Newman, who has been with the show since its inception.
She initially served as a co-executive producer for five seasons before becoming executive producer in the sixth season and eventually becoming the sole showrunner for the last three seasons.
“Working at Chicago Fire, with the absolute best cast and crew in the business, has been the highlight of my career,” Newman said of her time on the show in a statement.
She also thanked her executive colleagues at Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television for their collaboration and support over the years.
“After 14 years, you really do become a family, and working with this group will always feel like home,” the showrunner further noted.
‘Chicago Fire’ Season 15 Teases A Dangerous Fate For Rescue Squad 3
Season 14 ended on a major cliffhanger, with members of Rescue Squad 3, including lead actor Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), trapped inside a burning building.
Fans will have to wait until Season 15 premieres in October to find out what happens to the team. However, Miranda Rae Mayo, who plays Kidd, previously hinted in a May 2026 interview that viewers should prepare for the worst.
Speaking to TV Insider at the time, Mayo warned that “nobody’s safe.” Building on her claim, the actress said that even if everyone survives the disaster, some firefighters may be left with permanent injuries that prevent them from working actively.
“Maybe we’ll still be on the show, but who knows if we’ll still be on shift,” she also remarked.
