Sean Strickland has compared Donald Trump to one of history’s most infamous dictators in his latest criticism of the U.S. president.
The UFC star made the remarks during a podcast appearance while discussing his experience attending a Trump rally. On previous occasions, Strickland has also criticized the president over the conflict involving Iran and the controversy surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Sean Strickland’s appearance on The Shawn Ryan Show included a segment in which he recalled attending a Trump rally.
He described the experience as “f-cking nuts,” adding that it made him understand how the events that unfolded in Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler could have happened.
“When you go to a Trump rally, it makes you question the sanity of everybody. Like, Trump’s up there talking about, like, ‘We’re going to throw people in jail for burning the flag,’” the UFC star added.
Strickland also claimed Trump holds such sway over his MAGA supporters that, much like Hitler’s followers, they would do whatever he told them without regard for the Constitution. “Like, if Trump said go grab a gun and go do anything, they would f-cking do it. They would f-cking do it,” he noted.
Strickland Turned On Trump Over Iran Conflict
Back in April, Strickland lashed out at Trump over the conflict involving Iran, arguing that it had fueled inflation in the United States.
“Here’s the thing, I could be wrong about Iran, but it’s just looking to be a gas tax that made Russia and the Middle East richer and Americans poorer,” he wrote.
Strickland doubled down in another post published later that day.
“I could be wrong, but as of now the Iran war has only hurt Americans,” he said. “Middle Eastern countries get richer, Russia gets richer. Americans get a gas tax and inflation. YOU get poorer; THEY get richer. Tell me how this is America first?”
In another post, he added, “Trump completely betrayed the blue-collar guys with Iran. Complete betrayal.”
Sean Strickland Says He’s Loyal To America, Not Trump
Because Strickland was previously associated with Trump, his criticism of the president surprised many fans. In response, the former middleweight champion said his only focus is putting America first.
“Everyone ‘Sean use to be pro Trump,’” he wrote on X. “I have always been America first. When he does things that are pro-America, I support it. When he does things I believe hurt Americans, I disagree. American trade, immigration laws, less taxes, America first.”
Strickland went on to say he supports an “ideology, not a person,” suggesting he will continue to criticize Trump whenever he believes the president’s policies harm Americans.
Strickland Accused Trump Of Shielding Epstein Names
Strickland has also criticized the Trump administration over its handling of the Jeffrey Epstein matter.
In a post shared earlier last month, he described the administration as “compromised” before explaining why he held that view.
“Mysterious wealth. 2008 Epstein gets an out-of-jail-free card. Epstein strong connections to Israel. Sealed documents, redacted names. Cameras stop working, cell mate transferred, falsified prison records. Maxwell gets moved to a resort prison,” he wrote.
Later that month, Strickland directly accused Trump of using his presidential powers to shield people mentioned in the Epstein files.
“Trump absolutely used his role as president to shield people by placing lawyers who were trusted and close to Trump to redact and remove millions of documents,” the UFC fighter wrote in a June 25 post. “Goodbye. Don’t be a cultist.”
Sean Strickland Missed Out On White House UFC Card
Strickland was not among the UFC stars selected for the seven-fight Ultimate Fighting Championship card held on the grounds of the White House.
Despite missing out on the event, Strickland attended several of the surrounding festivities. However, his attempt to enter the UFC fan festival at The Ellipse ended with police escorting him away.
“The unplanned presence of Sean Strickland drew significant attention from attendees, resulting in disorder,” a statement from the United States Park Police Public Information Office read. “Due to concerns for Strickland’s safety and the safety of event patrons, personnel from the U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Park Police, and other assisting agencies evacuated him safely from the area.”
